an espresso lover's blog

I stopped by Stockfleth's today (Tinghuset branch) and had another of their smooth, balanced and yummy espressi. When I got home I opened a bag of their blend and proceeded to make some shots just to compare, and what do you know, I feel I am back to square one. My shots really can't be compared. They are more sour, without the velvety and smooth mouthfeel. I hope it is a combination of rotary vs. vibe, rocky vs. conical LM grinder, brew temperature zone etc., but it may just as well be my tamping, dosing and lots of other things. Well, it just goes to show how this hobby is a neverending quest with lots of ups and downs. Gotta get back to the lab..
