Still having fun roasting coffee and experimenting with blends. My two best friends for the moment are monsooned malabar and brazil cachoeira. I really enjoy being able to see the roast develop and hearing the cracks so clearly. This is a lot more fun than using the alpenrost, and I do think the roast is equally good and as a bonus more even. Probably because the beans get to circulate freely in the fountain of hot air.
My popper died some days ago, but after closer inspection I realized that it could be a loose wire that just needed to be reattached/soldered on. Worked fine and I'm back in business. I hadn't used a soldering iron since high school, so I was a bit apprehensive, but it was no problem at all. Poppers are simple devices and I think I will be able to repair it once again if it stops. The guy I bought it from warned me that I may need to shortcircuit a thermofuse at a later date, that is if it melts on me :)
My brother, Anders, is coming to visit me this weekend. I'm really looking forward to it. He is borrowing my old silvia, and is making rapid progress towards cappuccino heaven :)
The coffee bar project has been put on hold for a while. I have realized that I need more capital to be able to conduct a economically safe business. In the meantime I am applying for various IT jobs. It is hard since the IT industry is not exactly thriving here in Norway at the moment, or anywhere else in the world I guess.
Here is this morning's cappa. I'm quite pleased with it. If only the left hand side of the rosetta had been like the right side :)
